5”x8” original mixed media painting framed to 11”x14”

I painted this series in the darker months of winter. I wanted to have the works feel in tune with nature at that time of year – more neutral colors, the stark shape of branches against the pale blue sky, and the quiet that comes with a snowfall. I also added in mixed media that reminds me of cozy winter activities – fireside sewing projects, reading a book, and sketching in a journal. My intention was to make art that expresses what I experienced around me as I quietly took it in.

While my theme for this series was winter, this piece feels to me like the end of the season when the little bits of tender green start to show up on the plants and the buds just start to open.

These small paintings are created on vintage book covers and are mounted on 11x14 inch wood panels that have a light wood frame. The panels have been painted in warm white and the frame has been rubbed with wax to finish it and make it smooth. Please note that there is no glass. The artwork is mounted directly onto the panel.

It’s ready for you to hang on your wall. It has a sawtooth hanger and small clear bumpers on the back to keep it from moving around once you have hung it.
